Summary:
The Application Scientist represents the interface between the research lab and the customer. The primary area of responsibility will be the MGTTM business, Mascoma’s advanced yeast for the ethanol industry. Coordinating closely with the R&D team, the Applications Scientist is responsible for effective scale-up, technical transfer, introduction/launch, and optimization of MGT products in a customer-specific context. This is a technical position, which will require technical knowledge of the MGT product line, knowledge of industrial fermentation processes including yeast and enzymes used in the ethanol industry, effective teamwork skills, and effectiveness at prioritizing activities according to business and customer needs.

Research Scientist, Technology Development (Pretreatment) (Job Code: RSTD1)

The Research Scientist in Technology Development will provide hands-on leadership of research into microbial conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into ethanol, assist in integrating bioprocess research with organism development efforts and support the transfer of bioprocess technology to pilot and commercial facilities. Research Associate, Analytical Chemistry (Job Code: RAAC1)

As part of the Analytical and Process Chemistry Group, the Research Associate will assist with the development of bio-fuel technologies. The Research Associate will support technology development and demonstration projects by characterizing cellulosic and starch-based process samples through the course of their biological and thermochemical conversion to fuels and chemicals.

Research Associate, Genetic Engineering (Job Code: RAGE1)

Summary:
The Research Associate will join a team that is involved in genetic engineering yeast for the production of ethanol. Activities include: design of constructs, cloning, transformations, small scale fermentations, assays, mRNA analysis, and documentation. Research topics include: heterologous protein expression, metabolic engineering, classical genetics and cellulose hydrolysis. This position will report to a Research Scientist in the Organism Development group.
